Canadian-owned restaurant chain Cactus Club Cafe recently announced that it would open its first Florida location at the Citigroup Center trophy tower in Miami. As part of its U.S. expansion, the brand has signed a leasing agreement to activate the tower’s ground floor, where it will develop 10,000 square feet of premium downtown Miami retail space into an indoor/outdoor restaurant and lounge space.

With more than 30 locations across Canada, Cactus Club Cafe has grown to be highly appreciated for its menu, service, and overall atmosphere. The restaurant collection serves up contemporary dining experiences that feature both global and local cuisines as part of a concept that incorporates warmly modern and versatile interior and exterior designs; a service philosophy focused on spirited hospitality; and a menu that combines elevated, yet approachable flavor profiles.

The Citigroup Center location will feature immersive lighting and curated art and provide indoor and outdoor dining experiences for the building’s tenants and the broader Brickell community.

“Citigroup Center is the perfect location within downtown and Brickell to launch our Cactus flagship restaurant in Miami,” said Cactus Club Cafe President, Andrew Latchford. “Whether lunch, happy hour, dinner, or late night, this state-of-the-art Cactus location will be inviting and approachable to the wide variety of building tenants and area diners, offering something for everyone — no matter the occasion.”

Indeed, the tower’s excellent location on the corner of Biscayne Boulevard and Southeast Second Street in the heart of downtown Miami offers tenants immediate access to Interstate 95, Brickell Avenue, Bayfront Park Metromover Station, and MacArthur Causeway, as well as convenient proximity to the Brightline’s Miami Central Station, South Beach, and Miami International Airport.

Located at 201 South Biscayne Blvd., the Citigroup Center incorporates more than 800,000 square feet of class A+ Miami commercial space across 34 stories. According to CommercialEdge property research data, the building features 22,000- to 24,000-square-foot floor plates and includes roughly 21,000 square feet of Miami central business district retail space. The property can also accommodate a variety of tenants by offering both traditional and shared office space, as well as data center office options and both indoor and street retail space.

Notably, Citigroup Center is currently undergoing lobby renovations. Tower owners and operators Monarch Alternative Capital, CP Group, and Tourmaline Capital Partners announced a rebrand earlier this year formed around a “Built for Success” concept. As a result, they’ve recently developed and successfully leased 37,000 square feet of spec suites ranging in size from 1,900 to 9,000 square feet.

One of the largest Class A office buildings in the state of Florida, Citigroup Center aims to wow tenants and visitors alike with amenities and features including: an on-site car wash; valet parking; an ATM; a 9,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art conference center; a dedicated, on-site Tenant Services Coordinator; a fully integrated tenant experience app; and immediate, interior access to the connected Intercontinental Hotel’s fitness center and spa, along with an outdoor meeting and events space with a Skylawn and rooftop pool.

Lyle B. Stern and Sara Wolfe of Vertical — a Miami-based boutique real estate company focused on food and beverage brands and aspirational retail — represented the landlord joint venture in the transaction.

Taryn Brandes and Emily Green of Brand Urban — a Manhattan-based retail real estate brokerage and advisory company — worked on behalf of Cactus Club in the lease negotiations in partnership with Michael Sullivan and Sam Singer of Vertical.

“In addition to truly activating Citigroup Center’s ground floor — which constitutes today’s ultimate office amenity — Cactus Club Cafe is poised to become a dining destination in downtown Miami,” Stern said. “The restaurant’s dozens of Canadian locations have become sought-after locations for business lunches, happy hours, and more. We’re confident that the restaurant’s lively atmosphere will attract Miami’s professionals and become a welcome addition to the city’s renowned culinary scene.”
