Beautiful historic building in downtown Village of Vernon with lots of possibilities, perhaps best suited for mixed use. DDA grants are available for upstairs apartments. In Summer 2013, Village of Vernon invested over $150,000 in renovations, including: new roof with fire separation walls, 200 amp electrical service, repairs to front brick cornice, new rear double-entry door, sealed brick, new rear masonry wall, parapet, new concrete floor, repairs to second floor joist system, gutter & downspouts, new sleeve for well, new stub for sewer. Old light switches remain, along with cast iron columns, bricks. Nice details.
The building is a shell, ready to be recreated. Village is looking forward to working with new owner on this project.
Vernon DDA has been very busy with downtown upgrades, including a $1M road project: street widening, resurfacing and re-striping, new LED lights/posts and ADA sidewalks. Additionally, the Village completed a $3M sewer project to include new main, lift station, cleaning retention ponds, updating lines and sewer taps. There are no water problems and no sewer back-ups.
Additional parking spaces (2-4) are available in the rear of the building. - Parking description: Typical downtown parking with diagonal parking in front and a couple spaces in the rear. - Area description: Village of Vernon is located between Owosso and Durand, just off I-69. Downtown businesses include the Vernon Pub, Chase Bank, the Village Hair Shop, Toney's Restaurant, a beautiful library, post office, floral shop and dance studio. There are two parks on either side of town.
