Globe Building - Is it your dream to have an authentic loft style office? There is a certain attitude that cannot be matched by a century's old brick work and hard wood floors. With all the money in the world, you could not build authentic, historic, restored, loft style office space. Surely, you can use similar materials, but you will never perfectly match that original look. These buildings were built at the turn of the century when the industrial revolution was raging, and there is something raw, historic, and powerful about that era. The ability to experience the history that has occurred within the walls of your beautifully restored, class A loft style Kalamazoo office space is intangible and desirable. Reserve your corner office in a building that exemplifies an authentic, restored, loft style real estate.
The Globe Building was constructed in the early 1900s. Originally part of the Shakespeare Company, the Globe Building was built as a manufacturing facility. A truly utilitarian building the materials that today are sought after for their aesthetic appeal, were then the best, basic, sturdy construction materials. The brickwork and natural wood construction was covered in industrial green paint inside and industrial white paint outside. Gas lamp light was predominant at the time; therefore many expansive windows were installed to capture as much natural light as possible. As time went on the manufacturing facility changed hands and was then the The Globe Casket Company. True to its roots, The Globe Casket Company continued to be a manufacturing facility; constructing caskets. Later, the building was left unoccupied. Time took its toll and eventually building at 211 E. Water Street had boarded up windows, birds for tenants, and no company or person as a caretaker.
In 1998, the building was purchased by Jeff Nicholson and his partners. PlazaCorp Realty Advisors, Inc. was the developer and leasing company responsible for uncovering the natural, historic beauty. The Globe building was transformed with a vision of providing the Kalamazoo Market with a renewed east side and the highest end Class A loft style Kalamazoo office space that creativity and history could offer. - Parking description: Free On-site parking for tenants. - Class of space: Class A
