The Landmark building at 201 Sansome Street was the first commercial building built downtown after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Also known as the Royal Insurance Building, the structure was converted in 2006 to live/work condominium units in the heart of the Financial District.

This Georgian Revival-style building is one of the most striking in San Francisco, with its variety of color, rich materials, and exquisite ornamentation. The elegant white stone base is ornately carved at the entrance, and is topped with a fine carved marble clock, featuring a lion and a unicorn. Upper floors are brick, with stone accents.
